Milestone AV Technologies maintains accountability for the environmental impact of its activities, and has integrated a culture of sustainability into our daily business practices, including:
- Recycling bottles, cans, copy paper, junk mail and cardboard
- Using processed chlorine-free copy paper with 30% recycled content in all US locations
- Recycling old computers, monitors and toner cartridges
- Reusing, and eventually recycling, warehouse pallets
- Implementing an international employee-based Green Team
Milestone is taking the Energy Star Challenge to reduce our US energy consumption by 10% in 2009. We believe the integration of energy-efficient lighting, combined with the individual efforts of our employees, will be enough to not only meet the terms of this challenge, but exceed them.
Milestone’s Green Team has taken great care evaluating product lines and international suppliers to ensure they meet the minimum local environmental requirements. This research provides us with accurate benchmarks for pursuing our 2009 goals:
- Design and build products to meet or surpass LEED categories 4.1 (10% recycled content) and 4.2 (20% recycled content)
- Initiate program for returning and recycling Milestone products at the end of their life
- Certify that local domestic suppliers have clearly defined environmental objectives
- Print 100% of literature on FSC Certified paper with 10-30% recycled content using vegetable-based inks; and print 75% of literature at FSC-certified print vendors
- Apply domestic standards to literature printed internationally
Milestone is committed to enhancing our local involvement efforts to truly make a difference in the community where we live and work. Through The Milestone Involvement Team and a network of volunteers throughout the organization, Milestone sponsors events and organizations throughout the year.
